We use data all of the time in our everyday world and lives whether its quantitative or qualitative data, data is constantly being used every day all day. In my everyday life, especially at work we use a lot of quantitative data. At work every day I deal with nothing but grants, numbers, analyses, reports, etc… Working as a business analyst I deal with numbers and clients all day long. While most of the data that my company has or uses is client data that the client stores on our servers and uses we do keep a bit of quantitative data on our clients in a addition to a bit of qualitative data such as their demographics, names, emails, etc… the quantitative data we keep and use on our clients usually involves data such as the number of applicants that have applied for a specific grant, the amount of money they may be requesting, etc….
Obstacles of Using Data in the Workplace

Qualitative and Quantitative data are used throughout my company for numerous different things and reasons every day. While using this data on an everyday basis can be very helpful when it comes to communicating with clients, answering their questions or concerns, making sure all of the data is gathered in time for our reporting periods, among many other things it can also hinder us at times as well. In situations like if the client or applicant has entered the data incorrectly or made a mistake on their application it can at times hinder our work as a team or as a company because now we have to wait for corrections to be made, and make sure the data is validated for accuracy. It can even be a hinderance when we ourselves when entering in their information in the system make a mistake, spell something wrong, miss a number, the list goes on.
How to Overcome Obstacles in the Workplace

When it comes to the sensitive data used and handled within our company, we’ve come to learn that the best thing to do is to take our time when it comes to entering and reviewing data. to check, double check, and even at times triple check our data and verify with the client that everything is fine and accurate. We’ve come to learn that taking things slowly and checking and verifying all data as it comes in and then again before we enter it into our system is the best way to minimalize any mistakes or errors that may occur.
